New Palm Nova Device Expected at CES

A new handset by Palm is expected at this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas this week. Palm has been developing a successor to their Palm OS platform for years. Their new venture is codenamed Nova, and expected to be based on a Linux core. Nova is speculated to have some backwards compatibility with older Palm applications. Rumors are like wildfire concerning the Nova. One source states Palm will introduce a new Treo model, featuring a large touch screen display with slide-out full QWERTY keyboard. We can only hope that for Palms sake Nova takes advantage of touch-screen and other cutting-edge OS platform features. Many industry observers see Palm's Nova as a last struggling attempt to reclaim their once-firmly dominated smartphone industry. Many slices of the market share have been taken by newer and more tricked out rivals such as Apple's iPhone, loosing sales for the Treo and new Centro.
