Windows 8 New Logo
By Jerry Carrion

With Windows 8 as Microsoft's newest operating system, there is also many other changes going on. The logo, as you can see in the picture, looks much more like a window than the other logos, which seem reminiscent of flags. The logo was created with the help of the design agency Pentagram, which asked a simple question when the project was just started, "your name is Windows. Why are you a flag?" The question eventually led up to the four-paned window logo you see now. In the Microsoft Blog, it says "We wanted the new logo to be both modern and classic by echoing the Internal Typographic Style (or Swiss design)", it shows that they wanted a complete over hall with their design and not to keep the old flag logo. Microsoft notes that the logo is "authentically digital" and says it will welcome you with a slight tilt and change color based on your desktop.
